When I was practicing law, it never occurred to me not to do what a judge ordered, whether or not the order was in writing. It also did not matter from where the order came. Court orders are court orders that must be obeyed regardless of whether they originate in the trial, appellate, bankruptcy, claims, magistrate, administrative, immigration or tribal courts.

Disagreement with a judicial decision alone is not a proper basis for recusal, appeal or impeachment. The U.S. attorney general should know this. The president should know this, and they probably do, which is a dangerous and intentional attack on our democracy.

Supposedly there are three co-equal branches of government. Given U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson’s fawning capitulation to the executive branch, all that is left is the judiciary — maybe.

The lower courts are doing their job following the Constitution. Will the U.S. Supreme Court do its?
