President Donald Trump claims that he is ferreting out “fraud and waste” from the U.S. government. So far that has meant the loss of jobs for tens of thousands of public servants and the eviscerated budgets of departments that protect every aspect of citizens’ lives.
Meanwhile, in just Trump’s first few weeks in office our hard-working president played golf at his own properties to the tune of more than $18 million in taxpayer dollars. This sum is roughly the equivalent of 170 full time federal workers’ annual salaries. A month of golf versus 170 public servants working for a year to provide services we all need.
If we assume that Trump will maintain his golf addiction for the full 48 months of his term, he will cost taxpayers more than $500 million.
