Your frequent contributor Amy Fried had a problem with U.S. Sen. Susan Collins’ comments about Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his prosecution of former President Donald Trump. Fried also criticized Collins for ending the press event following a reporter’s question on the subject.
In her criticism of Collins, Fried states, “Asking public officials questions is essential to our democratic republic and its practices of transparency and accountability.” At the same time, we have a president who chooses not to hold many press conferences (or is incapable of holding them), and we hear nothing but crickets from Fried (and most of her colleagues in the media). Why the double standard?
