I am old enough to remember when America was the envy of the world. We were building new highways and schools, we were sending man to the moon, we had a good middle class and housing was actually affordable.
How did we do all of this? In 1960, the wealthiest Americans paid over 90 percent in taxes on their highest income. Today, some billionaires pay less than teachers and truck drivers.
Imagine what we could do if we restored just part of that fairness: Fully funded schools. Modern fire departments and public safety. Hospitals with the staff and equipment they need. Lower property taxes for working families.
It’s time ultra-wealthy individuals and corporations paid their fair share, like they used to. Let’s rebuild our roads, our bridges, our public utilities, and restore our communities.
Fair taxes benefit everyone. We did it before. We can do it again.
