There are millions of people across the globe experiencing humanitarian crises that lack access to vital medical resources. I sit on the board of Partners for World Health, a trusted nonprofit organization in New England collecting perfectly good medical equipment and supplies and shipping them to people in areas of great need. Through multiple partnerships with local and national organizations, Partners for World Health has created pathways for materials to enter several crisis areas. Partnerships with Airlink and MedGlobal enable shipments of vital resources to Gaza, Yemen and Lebanon. Collaborating with UAid Direct and Razom Health allows shipments of equipment and supplies to reach various locations in Ukraine. Working with the Sudanese American Physicians Association and the Multifaith Alliance allows container shipments to Sudan and Syria, respectively. And despite all Partners for World Health is doing to help, it isn’t enough.
As a pediatric surgeon who provided medical care and training for many years in low resource countries, I know first hand the importance of ensuring doctors in our partner countries have the right medical equipment and supplies to serve those in need.
Partners for World Health has the equipment and supplies and has built pipelines into various locations to distribute these critical resources. Still, they are receiving more requests from other potential partners from surrounding regions and want to stand ready to support them while maintaining the support of their longstanding partners.
You can help. Please contribute to Partners for World Health via its website at partnersforworldhealth.org.
