The situation in Gaza is not a Jewish problem, it is an Israeli government problem, and the United States also bears responsibility.

This humanitarian nightmare must be seen for what it is. Calling it out is not necessarily support for Hamas. We should be outraged at the systematic bombing and killing of innocent people. The Israeli government is bombing and bulldozing their homes, towns and hospitals. The people are directed to seek shelter elsewhere and often those safe spots are bombed. The people are starving and have no means to acquire food except through aid.

Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is run by the U.S. and Israel, which are not letting other humanitarian aid operations help. A joint statement from some of the world’s biggest charities and NGOs says it is violating all norms of humanitarian work. Every day, it seems, innocent starving Palestinians are killed as they seek aid.

Last week, the BBC reported: “On Friday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called the GHF’s aid distribution system ‘inherently unsafe’, adding: ‘It is killing people.’”

“From the start, the UN has opposed the plan, saying it would ‘militarise’ aid, bypass the existing UN-led distribution network and force Gazans to make long journeys through dangerous territory to get food,” the British network added.
