I am writing to lend my support to Laura Baker who is running for the RSU 71 school board representing Belfast.
Baker comes with a long and rich background as an educator. She has a varied career that has run the gamut of regular and special education teacher, director of special education, principal, and professor of education. Her commitment to the enhancement of life-long learning is evident in the proven programs she has developed and successfully implemented in a variety of settings.
In addition to her strong resume, what has stood out to me in our conversations is her student-focused belief system that engages the learner by closely listening and encouraging the student to develop ethical, critical, creative, problem-solving skills that will serve for a lifetime.
I have no doubt that Baker will be a fine collaborative addition to our school board.
