In 2022 and 2024 we’ve driven Ron Russell door to door to engage with voters no matter their party affiliation or unenrolled status. We’ve witnessed his in-depth conversations as he establishes relationships with voters in District 17 so that they know he is their state representative and one they can trust.

While Ron has been serving as our legislator, a major concern has arisen in our district with the corporation AIM Demolition USA’s plan to abandon ownership, operation and maintenance of three dams: Silver Lake (Bucksport), Alamoosook Lake (Orland) and Toddy Pond (Orland, Penobscot, Surry and Blue Hill — House District 16 ). Ron was immediately engaged to assist with gathering information from state agencies. As with any issue Ron is asked to address, he does his research, listens to multiple viewpoints, and comes to a decision that is fully considered.

Ron has become informed on the procedure of dam abandonment and the need to establish a viable alternative to protect the valuable assets these water bodies represent. He is invested in finding a solution, working with the five town committee created to address the urgent need for collaboration among stakeholders. It’s vital for District 17 that the knowledge that Ron has gained and the relationships he’s built in the Legislature continue.

We appreciate the need for youthful voices in politics, but this dam situation calls for established experience and demonstrated service to constituents.

Additionally, Ron is adamantly opposed to negative campaigning.

For all of these reasons, Ron Russell is our choice for House District 17.

Katie and John Greenman
