We have some very important choices to make next week, and while many are focused on the National Election, I would like to pause for a moment to highlight our statehouse races.
On Nov. 5, Bangor has the opportunity to re-elect an incredible team of legislators. Rep. Ambureen Rana, Rep. Laura Supica, Rep. Amy Roeder and Rep. Joe Perry have made significant contributions that positively impact our state, having positive outcomes for the City of Bangor. As a former resident of Bangor, I understand first hand the opportunities that Bangor can realize with this outstanding team serving The Queen City.
Individually, Rep. Perry’s expertise as House chair of the Taxation Committee has been instrumental in providing property tax relief for Mainers; Under Rep. Roeder’s leadership as House chair of Labor, workers rights were strengthened; In addition to protecting voting rights, Veterans and Legal Affairs House chair, Rep. Supica was instrumental in protecting victims of economic spousal abuse, and Rep. Rana, serving in her first term, spearheaded legislation funding recovery community centers — a much needed resource in the City of Bangor.
Collectively, the Bangor delegation has secured funding for Hope House, assured affordable prescription medications for seniors and worked to keep Veterans Homes open.
Accomplishments this year, with the support of this Bangor team also included investments in education, and passing one of the most generous Paid Family and Medical Leave Programs in the country. I am proud to serve with them and urge you to re-elect them to the Legislature.
