Think about how teachers impact your life. They work dragging hours and hold many responsibilities that they need to execute. Despite teachers being the backbone of our education system, teachers are typically underpaid, which leads to burnout and poor quality of life.

In a Through Education article by Emily Summers in November 2023, she says that “despite being one of the most crucial and demanding professions, teachers are consistently underpaid compared to other professionals with similar levels of education and experience.” Teachers dedicate so much time to their students, so why should they deserve to struggle to support their own family.

Raising teachers pay would ensure that they feel respected and empowered, because in the real world we could always use more teachers. They have an everlasting effect on students and it is an occupation that is important in terms of development and growth. Granting them more should not be hesitated, and it is a necessary investment for our future community.

Being a teacher is not just a job, it is far more than just resilience and constant motivation. Advocate for increased government funding, and give the teachers their earned salaries. Think about the importance of further investing in education, specifically with awarding teachers higher pay. Raise teacher’s salaries and acknowledge the work ethic and dedication it requires to be one.
