With the end of the election cycle this year, many Mainers are returning to the basic everyday worries that consume most of their daily lives, Things such as: bills, groceries, heating oil and upcoming holiday expenses. But rather than a message of woe, I am bringing one of encouragement and much-needed sanity. While the political and financial climate of the state is tense, I urge people to put those aside for the holiday season this year.
Put down the picket signs and instead come together for a nice and much needed Thanksgiving and Christmas with the family. Regardless of who you voted for or what you think tax dollars should go towards, we can all agree that pursuing happiness and comfort is an admirable goal, and thus something even the most bitter of rivals can find common ground on. So I’m certain that the readers, and their families can come to the same table and be merry as they pass the squash around, and look back on and say thanks for being able to spend another year surrounded by those they love.
With that I wish for you all to have a wonderful holiday season, and hope that it brings fun and good tidings to your lives, rather than division.
