There’s so much going on these days it’s hard to make sense of it, and I’m not sure we can as it changes from day to day — and maybe that’s part of the whole idea. In fact, it was just Earth Day, but that hardly seems a blip as the stock market has tanked ( worst free fall since COVID), and a lot of people are trying to tune out the news as it is all over the place. There’s more chaos, uncertainty, concern and fear than I can recall in my lifetime (and that’s saying something).
Our tradition of free trade with the world is being cut, anyone apparently can now be deported with no trial, we’re checking to see if our Social Security checks are being deposited and we have to because we hear of people who got cut off for no reason, and every day brings reports of our national security being compromised. At this time, the current administration is not even following rulings from the Supreme Court.
So what can we do? Talk with our family, friends and neighbors, talk with people who didn’t vote and hear their concerns. Volunteer for local peaceful efforts. Contact our elected officials who haven’t shown the courage to stand up as our good governor has. Public opinion has changed so keep trying, it does make a difference.
