Steven Farren is trying to preserve his house in the Broadway Historic District by replacing the roof with a less expensive type of material that resembles slate and is more easily installed.
The city’s Historic Preservation Commission does not approve of such material, for reasons not explained in the April 2 Bangor Daily News story.
Is Farren’s renovation project that detrimental to the Broadway Historic District or does the city’s Historic Preservation Commission simply lack what I consider common sense?
